Mochi the Lovey · The Lovey Who Kept the Cuddles · lovey story for toddlers · comfort after a fall · bedtime story

A bedtime story for children. Here is Emma's room: a Big Bed, a round little rug, and a window with a curtain that breathes. On the shelf, three friends wait for evening: Pantin, all made of wood, Ball, all round, and Nina, standing up straight. And in Emma's arms, there is Mochi, her lovey. During the day, Mochi never talks: he watches and listens.

At the park, Emma builds a sand tower, so tall. Then she slips. The tower crumbles, her knee gets a little boo-boo, and her heart gets a big sorrow. Mom comes running and holds Emma very tight, and Emma holds Mochi even tighter. A kiss on the boo-boo, a kiss on the heart, and the tears stop, one by one. Right against her, Mochi's heart goes poc-poc. He has just kept this cuddle for tonight.

At bedtime, Emma snuggles into the Big Bed. Mom gives her the lighthouse kiss, the one that stays lit all night long, and Emma falls asleep in the middle of her word. Then the room changes: the nightlight turns into a little moon, the rug into a soft island. This is the Evening World. Mochi opens his eyes, says good evening to his three friends, and opens his heart like a little door. Inside is the Cuddle Box, full of golden yarn balls, one for every cuddle received. Mochi picks the most beautiful one, a cuddle from last summer on the beach with Mom, and wraps it around the sorrow of the sand tower.

This lovey story for toddlers shows your child that a cuddle received yesterday can still comfort today. It also gives simple words to comfort after a fall: first a big hug, then the sorrow gets put away. This is the founding episode of the collection: the Evening World, the shelf hello, the Cuddle Box, the lighthouse kiss and Mochi's little phrase, "A lovey keeps all the cuddles inside," all start here, and they come back in every story.

Then the Evening World goes to bed. Pantin falls asleep in the middle of a story from back in his day, like every night. Ball gives one very last boing, and Nina lies down, very dignified. Mochi climbs back into Emma's arms, and his heart slows down: poc-poc, poc-poc, poc, poc. In the morning, Emma hugs Mochi very tight. The sorrow is gone, put away and kept warm. The sand tower? She'll build it again, another day.

No one tells Emma that a fallen tower is nothing, and no one hurries her tears. Mom holds her first, and the Evening World puts the sorrow away afterwards, with an old cuddle for a brand new sorrow: this way of taking a small child's big feelings seriously is the whole spirit of Tilibou bedtime stories. And all the while, the Big Bed goes crrriii, softly, like an old wooden friend.

A screen-free lovey story for children from age 2, perfect to enjoy warm and cozy at bedtime, in the car, or before a nap. As always with Tilibou, the ending stays soft and quiet, without music, so your child can drift off to sleep without waking anyone up. 🧸
