A bedtime story for children. They try shouting orders to organize things: everyone shouts at once, and the hedgehog curls up even tighter. They try to pick him up, and six pairs of hands politely bump into each other. They bring him a piece of apple, some bread, a lettuce leaf, all at once, and he touches none of it. So Nino suggests the one idea that was missing: everyone takes turns. A big circle, three steps back, silence, and just one person stepping forward, Lena, the one whose job this is.

As the story unfolds, your child learns a rare lesson: too much help at once doesn't actually help. They discover that waiting your turn, making room, and letting the right person act is its own true form of helping, every bit as useful as rushing in.

Lena tends to the little paw, puts on a tiny bandage, and adds a kiss right beside it, as always. When the hedgehog heads back into his bush, the whole village claps very softly, without a sound, so as not to startle him. At the fire station, the boots line up from the biggest to the smallest, and the evening bell closes the day.

No one is sent home, and no one is told they're in the way.
