Thirteen keepsakes, thirteen small treasures given back along the way. Then the sail shivers. One final map arrives, made of light, carrying a song barely above a whisper.

Sail to the lagoon where the lights are dancing, a lullaby has gone missing, give it back its tune. The map leads to Lantern Lagoon, the most peaceful place in the whole archipelago, where hundreds of little lights dance on the water in the evening, going tin, tin, like tiny bells. But tonight they are trembling and flickering.

Mama Lantern is so tired that she has forgotten the lullaby that settles her little lanterns, and without it not one of them really wants to sleep. The first idea falls flat: by talking to the little lights and asking them to help look, Tom wakes every single one of them, and they chime louder than ever. You do not find a lullaby by bustling about.

So Tom invites Mama Lantern to close her eyes and simply let her voice go mmmh, without thinking, the way you do when you rock a baby. In the quiet of the lagoon the song comes back on its own, one word, then two, then all of it: it was never lost, it was asleep at the bottom of her heart. One by one, the little lanterns fall asleep at last. Mama Lantern offers a tiny light for the chest, the fourteenth keepsake, and the chest begins to glow in the dark.

Written for the bedtime routine, this episode moves very slowly, in a steady voice that winds down towards sleep, and it carries a real lullaby. Your child hears one simple, reassuring idea. They carry a small light inside them, made of everyone who loves them, and that light never goes out, not even in the dark.
