A gentle bedtime story for children about bad dreams and being comforted. In the deep middle of the night, far inside the tree-house, a small sound wakes Noisette. It is Pinpin, her little brother, who has just had a funny, jumbled-up dream and cannot quite settle himself back down. His eyes are wide and his bottom lip is wobbling in the dark.

Very softly, so as not to wake the whole sleeping house, Noisette comforts him. She explains, in simple words a small bear can understand, that dreams, even the strangest, silliest, most muddled ones, can never really reach out and hurt you. They are only pictures in your head, made up while you sleep, and like clouds drifting across the sky they pass on by if you simply let them. She reminds him too that morning is not far away, and that he is safe and warm and surrounded by family.

Together they breathe slowly in the dark, in and out, in and out, and one by one the scary bits of the dream lose their power and fade away. Noisette stays close beside him until his eyes grow heavy again. Soon Pinpin is snuggled right back down, warm and safe, ready to sail off into much nicer dreams. Wrapped up warm again, with the dream gone quiet, Pinpin lets his little eyes fall shut once more.

This is a tender sleep story about nightmares and reassurance, just right for children whom the night sometimes makes a little uneasy. It hands a little one a calm, simple way to soothe themselves and settle back to sleep. It is a story about being comforted, and about learning, little by little, to comfort yourself in the dark.
