Gemgeneve Univers #17 Diamond beyond brilliant cut by Avnish Shah - Glittering Gems and Rajanish Sutariya - Great Diam

In the cosmos of a world of jewelry, subjects are as various and diverse as the galaxies that gravitate together in the jewelry planetary system that GemGeneve has built. GemGeneve, which has become a cultural event, offers to their exhibitors and visitors a wide range of topics. around jewelry and provide their knowledge on current affairs. I've joined them all together in one universe, the seventh season of the Jevollerie's theme podcast, Il était une fois le bijou. In this episode, I'll be exploring a new nebula, diamond beyond the brilliant cut. So I welcome... I come Avnish Shah from Glittering Gems. And Rajanish Sutariya from Great Diam.

In this episode, Avnish Shah and Rajanish Sutariya explore the fascinating world of diamonds beyond the traditional brilliant cut, showcasing dozens of unusual shapes, colours and historical cuts. They explain how today's customers increasingly seek unique, non-repeatable stones that give jewellery a distinctive character and personal story.

The conversation explores historical cuts such as table cuts, rose cuts and old mine cuts, explaining how they were created before electricity and modern machinery. Recreating these cuts today can actually be more challenging, as modern equipment requires highly skilled craftsmanship to preserve the charm and character of antique diamonds.

The guests also discuss the growing revival of historical cuts in contemporary jewellery. Designers use these stones in innovative ways, including around or over coloured gemstones and even in exceptional watch designs. Because genuine antique stones are rare, specialists are increasingly recreating historical styles while clearly distinguishing newly cut stones from authentic antique ones.

Another key theme is craftsmanship. The speakers emphasize that exceptional diamonds cannot be treated like mass-produced products. They require time, experimentation, collaboration and sometimes failure. Dealers, cutters, designers and jewellers all contribute to the final creation, although the work of diamond cutters and dealers often remains behind the scenes.

Since these unusual diamonds do not follow a standardized price list like the Rapaport system for brilliant cuts, their value depends on rarity, craftsmanship, individuality and the appreciation of the buyer. Ultimately, the discussion celebrates creativity, patience and the preservation of knowledge, while highlighting how unique diamonds can become physical memories and family legacies passed from one generation to another.
