#64 Ivet Lalova-Collio [EN] - "I was a sprinter who was afraid of speed"
My guest today is my dear friend Ivet Lalova-Collio.
With a PB of 10.77, Ivet is one of the best sprinters ever. She’s a five-time Olympian and the 2012 European champion in the 100m.
In this episode, Ivet and I talked about her career, from the time when no one wanted to coach her as a kid in Bulgaria to her fifth Olympics in Tokyo in 2021. Ivet also told me about the serious injury she sustained in 2005 that could have ended her career, about the Rio Olympics where she was the flag-bearer for Bulgaria and about her role in the Athletes Commission for both World Athletics and European Athletics.
FYI, we recorded this episode in February of 2024 when Ivet was expecting her first child, her son Tiago who was born at the end of April.
You’re listening to the original interview in English but the interview is also available dubbed in French for those of you who understand French better than English.
Enjoy!
